- "I bend my knee to no man, unless I choose to."
- ―Catherina Sforza
Catherina Sforza Riario[1][2] is the cousin of Giovanni Sforza, Ascanio Sforza, and Ludovico Sforza. She is the mother of Benito Sforza.
Information[]
The cunning head of the powerful Sforza clan of Milan, Catherina is one of the Pope's chief rivals for power on the Italian peninsula. Like the rest of the Sforzas, she refused to support the Pope against the impending invasion by the French.[3] Known for her military prowess, she roundly defeated Juan Borgia and the papal armies in their siege at Forli, her fortified castle.[4] Now bent on revenge, Catherina will stop at nothing in her desire to bring the Borgias down.[1]

Historical notes[]
- Caterina's eldest son's name was Ottaviano, not Benito. None of her sons were named Benito.[5]
- The incident of Caterina's eldest son being held hostage occurred in 1488 after the murder of her first husband, Giralomo Riario. Eye witness accounts differ as to whether or not she hiked her skirt, showing her genitals and saying she could always make more kids.[5]
